Five nuclear resisters arrested at Bangor naval base

On August 8th and 9th, about 120 people gathered at the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action in Poulsbo, Washington to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. The event included talks by Vincent Intondi, Bo Jacobs, and Abby Martin, music by David Rovics, a camp out at Ground Zero, and a direct action at the gates of U.S. Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor.
Participants in the weekend event gathered at the front gates of the Trident base around 2 p.m. on August 9. After some spirited singing, about a dozen activists entered the roadway in front of the gate with signs and banners to block the entrance to the base. Caroline Wildflower, Mack Johnson, Michael Siptroth, Meg Lumsdaine and Tom Clark refused the State Troopers’ orders to disperse, and were arrested and cited for blocking a roadway.
