On February 21, L.A. Catholic Worker Theo Kayser appeared in federal court in Santa Barbara, California. He pled guilty to trespass for his backcountry action at Vandenberg Air Force Base on October 22 and was sentenced to 10 days in prison. Kayser will begin his sentence on February 25.
His court statement:
Upon receiving a copy of the Statement of Probable Cause for my arrest at Vandenberg AFB on October 21 I noticed an error in the statement. It says and I quote “Kayser was asked what he was doing on Vandenberg AFB. Kayser stated ‘nothing.’” I would just like to say that this was not my response because “nothing” is precisely the opposite of what I was doing.

Greetings from the Federal Prison Camp in Yankton, South Dakota! As of this writing, I am two months into a six month sentence imposed due to my protest of war crimes committed by remote control from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri against the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

from Upstate Drone Action
Around 3:30 p.m. on February 13, Ash Wednesday, 9 individuals were arrested by DeWitt Police and Onondaga County Sheriffs for peaceably blocking the main entrance to Hancock Air Base on East Molloy Rd. in the town of DeWitt, a Syracuse, NY suburb. Hancock is the regional hub for the hunter/killer Reaper drone deployed over Afghanistan, Pakistan and, increasingly, elsewhere.

Peace Activists Target UK’s Nuclear Hypocrisy
In the early hours of Monday, 3rd February, two peace activists – Sylvia Boyes and Mary Millington – were arrested attempting to enter Faslane, home to the UK’s nuclear submarines. They were charged with criminal damage for cutting the fence and spraypainting, and released.
Their action comes a week after David Cameron pledged to increase defence spending, including investment in nuclear weapons. The Ministry of Defence also admitted that chancellor George Osborne is already signing off millions of pounds worth of investment on nuclear submarines before a parliamentary decision on the issue is to be taken.

- Yang Yoon-Mo, a movie critic, was arrested directly from the court
Yang Yoon-Mo, a movie critic and one of the prominent opponents against the Jeju naval base project was directly arrested and jailed from the court on Feb. 1, 2013 . It is his 4th time imprisonment. He is the one who has been jailed the most numerous times during the struggle against the base project by now. (see the below for the details) He was also one of the subjects of the individual complaints to the UN Human Rights Council in 2012.
He is currently in prison and you may write an encouraging and supporting letter to him:
