Citizens Look Into Y-12 |
Demonstrators blocked a road outside the Y-12 nuclear weapons
plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on March 30. "I'm here because I
couldn't not be here," declared 80-year-old Judy Ross of Balsam,
N.C., who came to Oak Ridge to inspect production of weapons of mass
destruction in the United States. Six people were cited and released.
"Using the philosophy of President Bush, we decided that
failure to cooperate with inspectors was an admission of guilt," said
Marcelle Good, spokeswoman for OREPA, the Oak Ridge Environmental
Peace Alliance and main sponsor of the event.
