Colombia Solidarity

Not to be forgotten in Bush's war on the planet, U.S. military intervention in Colombia has been the target of a series of recent resistance actions.

On November 30, four people were arrested after holding a die-in and pouring fake blood at the Colombian consulate in San Francisco. They were cited for vandalism and interfering with business, and await trial.

A pair of actions on Colombia Solidarity Day, March 24, spotlighted corporations with a large stake in the profits of death and environmental destruction in the South American nation. In Hartford, Connecticut, 80 people were arrested at the factory of Sikorsky Helicopter/United Technologies. Bond was initially set at $5,000 each, but dropped the next day when defendants agreed to a sentence of time served. Three activists were also arrested that day at the Monsanto corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.
