While about a dozen people held peace banners outside the air show at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia on June 22, Steve Baggarly and Bill Frankel-Streit discreetly brought theirs inside. Looking about for a suitable stage, they noticed a B-52 on the flight line. The long wings of the strategic nuclear bomber gracefully spread back from the top of the fuselage, their tips drooping down, not much taller than the pair of pacifists hatching a plan.

They waited a few minutes until the crowd ebbed. Then, with a boost and a pull, the men were atop the wing and soon standing above the entire crowd, their banner unfurled. "Weapons of Mass Destruction - Nothing to Celebrate" it read, and while more and more people took notice, the men began to chant for peace.

It took a few minutes before military police carefully arrested the pair on the wing. The men were held for several hours, then released with a federal trespass citation. They expect arraignment in August, if not earlier.
