On May 22, a dozen human rights activists sat-in at Illinois Senator Durbin's Chicago office, refusing to leave until they got a guarantee that the Senator would either vote against the Colombia provisions of the Emergency Supplemental Counter Terrorism Bill or visit NGO's and Human Rights organizations in Colombia before he casts his vote. "We would have him see the reality of what goes on in Colombia with this aid, rather than the sanitized state-sponsored tour he took," said Joe Ferrara of Illinois SOA Watch.

All the activists received a federal citation for creating a disturbance, but no court date yet. For more information, contact the 8th day Center, (312) 641-5151; 8thday@claret.org.
