One hundred twenty people took part in a Christian liturgy observing February 13 as Ash Wednesday in front of the Ministry of Defence in London. The symbolic use of ashes marks the day of fasting, prayer and repentance. Seven of the annual celebrants from Catholic Peace Action, Christian CND and Pax Christi again marked the buildings with charcoal, inscribing the words "Trident = Death" "Repent" "Peace" and "Choose Life".

Surprisingly, none were arrested, although two who returned to the buildings at 5 p.m. and continued marking were eventually stopped by police.

On Tuesday, March 26, three of the seven returned to again mark the buildings with charcoal. Angela Broom, David Partridge, and Dan Martin were arrested after a few inscriptions had been placed, and held for three hours on suspicion of criminal damage, They were then released without charges, "in the public interest."
