The Brandywine Peace Community and friends began Good Friday with a Stations of Justice and Peace liturgy outside the Lockheed Martin weapons factory in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. After each scripture reading, about the last steps and crucifixion of Jesus, a parallel reading compared the event with Bush's war-without-end policy, resurgent militarism and renewed nuclear war threats.
At the conclusion, a four-foot high cross was planted, with the inscription "Lockheed Martin - Weapons & War - Christ Crucified." Carrying a ten-foot cross, the 85 participants then walked with a coffin to the main driveway, which fourteen people then blocked.
Police made no move to stop the blockade. After more than an hour the group began a walk around the facility. They were arrested when they tried to enter elsewhere, cited for trespass and released without a court date.
