Two Prince of Peace Plowshares Released |
Philip Berrigan and Susan Crane were both released from federal prison on December 14, and have returned to their home at Jonah House in Baltimore. Both served 10-1/2 months of a one year sentence for violating the probation portion of their original sentence for the February, 1997 Prince of Peace Plowshares disarmament action at Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine. Probation was revoked after each completed a prison sentence for the subsequent Plowshares vs. Depleted Uranium Plowshares action of December, 1999.
Berrigan and Crane's co-defendant from both actions, Fr.
Stephen Kelly, remains in prison serving a 14 month sentence for the
probation violation. He should be released by early autumn.
