Ten Days in Jail |
Ellen Barfield and Brian Barrett of the Baltimore Emergency
Response Network (BERN) were sentenced February 13 to ten days in
jail for peacefully attempting to persuade members of the Maryland
Air National Guard not to engage in warmaking. The two were
convicted of trespass and failure to obey a lawful order, following
their arrest at an October 15 anti-war demonstration. District Court
Judge Darryl Fletcher told the pair they were not entitled to
interfere with the operations of the military, and that since they
had engaged in similar protests in the past, they were to go straight
to jail.
