-White House
In response to the bombardment of Afghanistan, members of Jonah House and the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker community gathered at the White House when the overt retaliation began. In front of the President's home on October 9, they wove themselves together and displayed banners proclaiming "Peace not War!" and "We are all woven in the web of life. What is done to one, is done to all. Choose nonviolence."

Their vigil - accompanied by song, prayer, and conversation with press and passersby - stood for an hour in the photo-zone where only moving pickets are permitted. Police then moved in and arrested nine people under the gaze of 100 respectful bystanders, notably distinct from the gawking tourists who often observe White House protests. They were cited for stationary demonstrating and released pending trial December 19.
