On Monday, October 15, Ellen Barfield and Brian Barrett sat in at the gates of the Warfield Air National Guard Base in Essex, Maryland, while eight other members of the Baltimore Emergency Response Network vigiled nearby. The base is home to a squadron of A-10 anti-tank aircraft, the primary source of toxic depleted uranium armor-piercing bullets that have forever contaminated battlefields in Iraq and the Balkans. The two were arrested and held overnight for arraignment, then released on their own recognizance until their next court appearance in February, 2002.
