The Brandywine Peace Community began this year's
commemoration of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima with a siren blast
at 8:16 a.m., outside the gates of Lockheed Martin's headquarters at
Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. A vigil gave way at noon to a ceremony
of Peace and Remembrance with two visiting hibakusha. The group's
litany declared, "What began with Hiroshima and the atomic bomb
continues with Lockheed Martin and Star Wars." They proceeded to the
entrance driveway, where a die-in resulted in nine people being
arrested. The nine were cited for trespass and released, and by long
tradition, they expect no prosecution.
Likewise, twelve people arrested at Lockheed Martin last Good
Friday have not been prosecuted for trespass. (Their arrest was not
previously noted here.)
