The annual Hiroshima Day rally and nonviolent direct action
at the Livermore nuclear weapons laboratory in California brought out
about 85 people calling for "Peace on Earth and in Space." Speakers
at the rally included Dial Keju of the Marshall Islands, where
Livermore (and Los Alamos lab) nuclear weapons were tested and Star
Wars missile interceptors are test-launched, and Robert Bowman, a
former Air Force space weapons developer, now a long-time opponent of
the scheme.
Following the rally, 30 people blocked an entrance to the lab
and were arrested. All were cited for obstruction and released
within a few hours. Prosecution is not expected.
