Nuclear Free Great Lakes Action at Exelon
|
Organizers of August's Nuclear Free Great Lakes Action Camp
planned to conclude the seven-day event with a protest at the
Dresden nuclear power plant near Chicago. But when the international
camp learned that Exelon Corporation, Dresden's owner and the largest
nuclear reactor operator in the United States, was also opening its
world headquarters in suburban Warrenville on August 23, the
activists adapted their plans. The grand opening was met with a
grand die-in of 125 people. Nine of the group who tried to deliver a
list of demands to the front door were arrested for trespass. A one
hundred dollar bond was posted for each. Trial is set for December
13.
