Hundreds rallied for peace on the University of New Mexico campus in Albuquerque, early Friday evening, September 21. At least 350 people then took to Central Avenue for a march downtown to the Civic Plaza. Police moved quickly to narrow the path of dissenters by forcing marchers back onto the sidewalk within just a few blocks, and arresting four who encouraged others to take the street or refused to leave themselves. The march continued on, while police in riot gear and gas masks barricaded the street downtown in front of the jail. "The last thing we wanted was to have a demonstration in front of the facility," said John Dantis, the city's jail director.

Those arrested were cited and released later in the evening.
