The 7th annual Nevada Desert Experience Peace Walk from Las Vegas to the Nevada nuclear weapons test site concluded with forty people participating in a Nuclear Stations of the Cross ritual at the test site gate on April 13, Good Friday. Despite permits from the Western Shoshone, indigenous inhabitants of the region, to "Gather, Go and Come" in their territory, 27 people were arrested when they crossed a test site boundary at the conclusion of the liturgy. All were cited for trespass and then released.
The following Monday, three of those arrested on Friday and another supporter hiked into the test site and surprised workers when they blocked the access road with a disarmament banner. The four were cited for trespass and released at the gate.
On May 7, the fourth Monday following Easter, three activists returned to an area not far inside, near Camp Desert Rock, where they prayed and then again blocked the road with a banner. The three were also cited and released.
