Faith-based resisters from Virginia and North Carolina gathered for retreat and action in Chatham County, North Carolina, April 6-8. About 30 adults and 15 children spent the weekend building what they tentatively refer to as the Southern Life Community. On Palm Sunday, they processed through downtown Goldsboro and onto Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, home to nuclear-capable F-15E fighter bombers. Six who remained to pray inside the gate were arrested.

In court May 25, Steve Baggarly explained:
"[We] commemorated Jesus' entry into Jerusalem amid a procession armed only with palm branches... Scripture tells us that Jesus rode into Jerusalem amid shouts hailing him as king, yet he rode in on a donkey rather than a war-horse. Indeed, he taught his followers nonviolence on all levels; in family relationships, within the discipleship community, and in their dealings with enemies. He resisted evil nonviolently; constantly broke laws put before human need, demonstrated the cross rather than the sword as the means to overcome evil, and forgave his own murderers. We hoped to align ourselves with this king and his kingdom as all of us crossed onto Air Force property to culminate our procession..."
