Seven people returned to the Raleigh headquarters of Carolina Power and Light on January 24, again demanding a commitment to public safety hearings on the company's plan to expand irradiated nuclear fuel storage pools. With no commitment forthcoming, a sit-in ensued. Eventually, all seven were arrested for trespass, cited and released. Two weeks earlier, trespass charges against three people in a similar October demonstration were dismissed.
The seven were convicted on the charge in early March, and have appealed their case to a jury trial in Superior Court, scheduled for late May.
