Three of the Plowshares vs. Depleted Uranium disarmament action group - Phil Berrigan, Susan Crane, and Liz Walz - may all be out of Maryland prisons in December: Berrigan and Crane to federal custody for violating probation from an earlier disarmament action in Maine, and Walz with credit for good time. Co-defendant Steve Kelly, SJ, is expected to remain in Maryland serving his 27 month sentence, although like Berrigan and Crane, a probation violation hearing before Federal Judge Carter in Maine is in his future.

Last December, the four hammered and poured blood on two A-10 combat aircraft at Warfield Air National Guard Base in Essex, Maryland. The A-10 is notorious as the flying machine gun that pumped nearly 300 tons of radioactive 30-mm U-238 bullets into the southern Iraqi battlefields in 1991, poisoning the environment for all time.

Letters of support can be sent to the four at their prison addresses, listed under Inside & Out.
