Four Catholic Worker activists from Kansas City, Columbia, and St. Louis were arrested by St. Louis police September 6 at the Missouri Air National Guard headquarters at Lambert Field and charged with trespassing. Nine Missouri Air National Guard squadrons, consisting of 430 people and 24 fighter planes, were preparing to depart September 9 to patrol the extra-legal "No Fly Zones" over Iraq.

National Guard security told a group of 17 activists that they could not meet with the commander and could not picket and vigil near the entrance, and ordered them to leave or face arrest. Steve Jacobs and Chrissy Kirchhoefer from Columbia, Susan Lee from Kansas City and Tony Hilkin of St. Louis attempted to deliver hospital supplies to the Guard and refused to leave unless the Guard's commander promised to deliver them to Iraqis suffering under economic sanctions and until the Guard promised not to bomb Iraq. The four were arrested and their medical supplies were confiscated by police. They were released on their own recognizance.
