Menwith Hill

Anni Rainbow and Lindis Percy of the Campaign for the Accountability of American Bases (CAAB) continue to be arrested for peaceful actions at Menwith Hill and Fylingdales in opposition to the U.S. Ballistic Missile Defense program and the crucial role of these bases in the National Missile Defense system.

On August 8, 2000 Rainbow quietly opened a gate of the new high-security perimeter fence at Menwith Hill and went into the "operations area" before being arrested under the controversial military land bylaws. She was not taken before a custody officer but "de-arrested" without charge or further action. CAAB hopes to start a legal action concerning the bylaws soon.

Percy and Rainbow have also been arrested many times at Fylingdales radar base and again the military police are "flouting" the law. At Fylingdales, Percy has had spurious charges brought against her by the military police. She has several cases pending.
