-Good News!

With no prior notice, Leonard Peltier was moved on March 20 from the Leavenworth Federal Prison to the Rochester Medical Center for federal prisoners in Minnesota. Two days later, the Mayo Clinic surgeon of Peltier's choice, Dr. E.E. Keller, was able to perform five hours of surgery to repair the severe ankylosis on both sides of his jaw that had left him in constant pain for four years and unable to chew. The surgery was considered successful, but extended physical therapy is now prescribed for the Native American political prisoner to regain proper function of his jaw.

Meanwhile, Peltier's legal team is preparing for a parole hearing on June 12. Letters addressed to the U.S. Parole Commission should be sent to his Defense Committee for presentation all together at the appropriate time. Sample letters and supporting material are available on request from the Committee.
