Ignoring the fact that Percy had breached her injunction in order to hold the military to lawful account for their refusal to remove invalid bye-laws notices from around the base, the judge sentenced her to nine months in prison. Percy won a case several years ago, challenging the legitimacy of the military bylaws at Menwith Hill, and was entering the base regularly (over 400 times since 1996) and taping “INVALID” signs across each notice of the bylaws she could find.
Percy’s refusal to adapt to routine prison injustices has kept her at a relatively high security level.
